Temporo Mandibular Joint
TMJ - Temporo Mandibular Joint
Holistic Dentistry recognizes the fact that there is a very delicate harmonious relationship between the teeth, facial muscles, and the temporomandibular joint. When this relationship is altered by injury or an improper bite relationship, the resulting painful syndrome known as TMJ(Temporamandibular Joint Dysfunction) arises.
The structural dynamic of the mouth and jaw can effect the functioning of the entire body. The integrity of this system can be effected by mental, emotional and physical components all addressed with additional treatment such as
Physically - occlussal splint therapy with Dr Jon- orthodontics, cosmetic or functional reconstruction to rebuild the bite.
Muscular, Osteopathic and Chiropractic Treatment - we can recommend a practitioner or liase with your favourite one to align and co-ordinate an optimal treatment program for you. Cranial Sacral treatment is highly recommended and available through our centre.
Mentally and Emotionally - options offered include Kinesiology, Kinesiopathy and Avatar Bio-Feedback Electrodermal testing.
Early Diagnosis and treatment is essential for avoiding more serious consequences.
